Find Out About Ole Smoky Moonshine Distillery
Moonshine is one of those drinks that everyone who lived in the mountains has heard about at one point in time. However, what you need to realize is it was not always legal to make the moonshine and this definitely made a change in the culture of the towns that had the stills. One place that went legal a few years back, but still has some of the same great quality of drink you would expect in moonshine is the Ole Smoky Moonshine Distillery. Unlike some of the other distilleries this is one that has built quite a bit of fame on the name and in grocery store chains across America has managed to put their brand in front of people. What you may not know is one of these distilleries is going to be found in Gatlinburg and they have a great location that offers tours, tasting room, and plenty of other things to enjoy. Since this is the case, we have decided to offer up our review of the Ole Smoky Moonshine Distillery.

What We Liked About Ole Smoky Tennessee Distillery
This is a location that once you get out and start to approach the building is going to have a lot of the history of moonshining preserved. Now you may be asking yourself what exactly do we mean? Well that is an easy question to answer because you will feel like you have taken a step back in time as you have a chance to explore the older stills that are seen in the moonshining age. This step is going to allow you to explore the history of moonshine without even realizing it. Not to mention it is also a great chance for some amazing photo-ops you simply cannot pass up.
When you want to learn about the distilling process, which you probably will after smelling it while walking up, you will want to take the tour. This tour is going to be amazing and will walk you through the entire process of going through the distilling. Then you will not have to be concerned about where the moonshine comes from because you literally just walked through the place that has all the magic happening in it.
After you have completed the tour you will want to hit up the tasting room. Now the tasting room used to be free, but we are starting to see it reported that it is being charged for up to five dollars per sample. However, this is a small fee to pay for you to have a chance to explore the moonshine flavors. Something that is nice is you will have a chance to explore some of the flavors that are not available in your local store, which means you can have a chance to look at the different moonshines and find one that is completely different than what you were expecting.
What We Did Not Like At Ole Smoky Moonshine Distillery
Well, the fact that you will want to buy everything after you taste it is one of the things that we did not like that much. Now this problem does not come from the distillery itself, but it comes from the fact that we are going to enjoy drinking the moonshine that much and will want to bring it all home. However, what is nice is the pricing is a lot more reasonable than what you would find at the store so this makes it easier for you to find the cash to pay for the drinks. You will also find they do have shirts that you can buy as well, which if you are not a drinker, but want to have a momento of your trip you will have it in the form of a shirt.
Our Final Thoughts On The Ole Smoky Moonshine Distillery
This is a distillery that you are going to want to take a tour of because it is a unique experience and the tasting room is great. However, like a lot of tours it really depends on the tour guide you get if you are going to have a good time or not. If you have a poor tour guide, then you will notice that your tour and subsequently the tasting room will not work for what you want. At the same time, if you have a great tour guide you will have a time that will make Gatlinburg memorable for you and whoever you take the tour with. Overall, this is a great place to go and visit and definitely worth a stop if you are traveling with adults.
