Steakhouses are seemingly in every city that you can visit. However, what you need to realize is that all the cities that you are visiting is going to make a difference in how great the food is. When you go to a tourist town like Gatlinburg you will find that it is going to be a great place that has a wide range of food to choose from. Some of the food choices are going to be the classic Southern BBQ style to the Italian restaurants. However, with The Peddler Steakhouse you are going to be heading out to one of the best secrets, well it used to be a secret, of the Smokies and that is this gem of a steakhouse that would make you think you have sat down to a great meal in New York City. Since that is the case, let us start our review of The Peddler Steakhouse.

What Is Our Favorite Meal Off Of The Menu
Now The Peddler is one of those locations that does have cheese sticks that we usually order from all the locations. However, we have found that the location has other appetizers that tends to catch our eyes. So if you have been following our restaurant reviews this is one of those times that we are going to vary and actually go along with a different menu item that we love. The appetizer that we start the meal off with is the fried Dill Pickles, but we also add on the fried mushrooms & cauliflower. Thi way even with the fried food that we are going to be eating we can at least feel like we are getting a healthy option.
When it comes time for us to get an appetizer we tend to lean towards the mountain cut of the prime rib. Now, I will tell you if you have a small appetite or do not have a hungry husband to share the meal with then you may want to select a smaller cut. However, we love this meal and the prime rib, which my husband steals half of, is cooked to perfection. We do substitute our normal side dish of a baked potato with the baked stuffed potato, but you do not have to do this. We just like it better and it does tend to be more filling if the prime rib was not enough.
For some reason even after eating all of that food, my husband is still hungry. I swear I do not know where he is putting this food. So he always ask for the desserts menu. Now this I do not mind because I like the desserts as well, but usually I am full so this means taking it back to the hotel to enjoy. The dessert that I usually end up ordering from the menu and my husband as well is the Peanut Butter Mud Pie, which is a stunning chocolate and peanut butter ice cream on an Oreo cookie crust with whipped cream and chocolate drizzle.
What We Do Not Like At The Peddler Steakhouse
Unfortunately we could not find anything that we did not really not care for on the menu. So we turned to our kids to see what they did not like. Usually they are going to eat anything that you put in front of them. However, they all talked with each other and decided the mountain trout is not their favorite item on the kids menu. Now, some kids will love to see the trout on the menu because so many restaurants do not have trout on the menu. For my kids, though, they are a cod and salmon type so the trout just does not do it for them.
Our Final Thoughts
The Peddler Steakhouse is one of those places that you are going to absolutely love. This location is close to everything being located on River Road, but also out of the way so you can avoid some of the crowds. Throw in the fact that you can walk to the restaurant that it is going to be easy for you to get to and walk off your meal afterwards is a good thing. So you will love the fact this is a great restaurant and one that you are going to enjoy. Overall, if you are looking for a great prime rib in Gatlinburg, then you will want to make sure you visit this location for a meal.
