Gatlinburg is a town that is full of surprises and one of those that you are going to like is Old Dad’s. However, if you are like some people who come to Gatlinburg you normally would never think about going to this location. That is why we have decided we needed to cover a review here of Old Dad’s. This was going to make it easier for you to know if you really need to stop here or if this is a place you are going to be able to bypass because of the way it looks and the fact that it may not draw in your attention at times. Since this is the case and we know this is a great place to go we decided it was time to do our review of Old Dad’s to make it easier for you to have a great time in Gatlinburg.

Location And Hours 

Well, what is amazing about this location is it is going to be located on the Parkway. This will make it easier for you to have a great time because you do not have to really wander around town. The downside is this is towards the Park and this makes it easier for you to miss it because usually when you are going this far down you are in your vehicle driving towards the park. Since this is the case, we decided it was going to be a good thing for you to get the right address.

Every day the location will open up at 7 AM and will remain open until 11 PM.

So this will make it easier for you to know this is a location that is generally going to be open when you need to have something, but also that it is going to make it easier for you to have a great time that you can go out to the mountains early on in the day to get some great food to start the day off with.

Features Of Old Dad’s

• This is a location that is going to have a country store type of feel to it. I guess you could almost compare it to Cracker Barrel, but without a lot of the hype and big dining rooms you may have been used to. So this is definitely going to be a place you will want to go to because of the fact that it is going to have this type of feel to the location and it will have a country store feel as well.
• Sandwiches are going to be one of the best features you will find with restaurant portion of the location. This is going to make it quite a bit easier for you to get the great food you want to have, but also have food that can easily be taken into the mountains with you for the day or if you want to have a picnic. The food is going to make it easier for you to have a great time in the mountains and this makes it easier for you to have a great time because when your stomach starts to growl because you are hungry it will be easy for you to get the right meal.
• Breakfast is something else you are going to look for when you are in Gatlinburg. Yes, you can go to the Donut Friar for the great food, but if you want a breakfast sandwich you may want to consider this location. It is going to have a great breakfast sandwich type of selection and since this opens up at 7 AM it will make it easier for you to have a chance to be the early bird and get a sandwich you can eat while you are traveling to Cades Cove, Newfound Gap, or even going over the mountain to Cherokee for the day.

What I Like About The General Store

Well, I have to say this is a place that I like because it is open early and you can grab a bite to eat on the go. Now, this may not seem like it would matter that much, but I have found that getting the food to go when you have the mountains so close by it is amazing. That means I can finally spend the entire day in the mountains and not really have to worry about getting hungry or even worse having to leave the mountains because my stomach is making me worried that I might not last until dinner time.

Pet-friendly is something else that is very nice about the location here. When you are looking at the locations you will find that not all of the locations are going to allow you to bring your pets in with you. However, this is a location that lets you bring your four-legged kids with you and this will make it easier for you to have a great time in the mountains and know your shopping can be done properly and not have to be concerned about them being the reason why you are having to leave the shop early on in the day.

Finding the items you never knew you were going to need is something else you will like at this Gatlinburg general store. This is a location you will find has a little bit of everything you are going to need to have. So you do not have to worry about the location not being able to help you find the items you need to have when you are going out into the mountains.

What I Did Not Care For

Now, the main issue I have found and even several other people have reported is the staff is not always attentive to what you are looking for. This is not a common problem that you are going to have to deal with, but it can be unnerving at times when you are trying to get the items or souvenirs you want to bring home with you. Something that is nice here is going to be the fact that if you go to the deli counter you are usually going to be waited on right away.

My Final Thoughts On Old Dad’s 

Well, I have to say this is a place that has tried to hold onto a lot of the charm of the area but is having some problems doing that. The building is modern and sleek, but it also has some of the charms you would want to have as well. The good news is this is a place that does have a little bit of everything you would need and it has all the picnic supplies you would need as well. Overall, if you are looking for a good sandwich shop that has some amazing breakfast options for an early morning trip to the mountains you will want to stop in at Old Dad’s and check it out.
