Quite a few of these attractions, as you will notice are going to be located in the park and will involve nature, but it will definitely make the trip easier for you to stick to your budget and enjoy yourself.
How Did I Pick My List
Well, as a lot of you know I have a husband and 3 kids so it is important for me to keep a budget in mind when traveling. With that being said, I really looked at the budget of what I would be using for the entertainment each day when I would be in Gatlinburg. This was a challenge as I really did not want to go over a certain amount and at the same time, if you are like me you do have to eat when you are visiting. With that being the case, you will notice a common theme that is running through our list and most of the list will involve you getting outside and enjoying the park, but it will definitely make it easier for you to have the money to enjoy a great restaurant.
5. Walk Along Little Pigeon River
A great attraction in Gatlinburg that is free is going to be Little Pigeon River. This is a great river you are going to enjoy and while it does not have as much in the way of a riverwalk that you will find in San Antonio, the city is one that has some amazing sidewalks that will be next to the river. The river will make it easier for you to have a great walk and enjoy the river, but what is even better be able to see the river is going to allow you to have a great time cooling off as you can find the river has some great comfort as well. Not to mention when you are looking at this location you will notice walking on the street is free and provides you with some great times that can create some amazing family memories.

4. Go Through Gatlinburg Arts & Crafts Community
When you are looking at this community you will notice it is going to be free to go through, but you need to practice self-restraint when in the community. That is because you are going to find that some of the shops in the area are going to be very expensive and at times it can be hard to practice the self control you need when you are in the area. The problem is the location is also one you are going to love because it does have a lot to offer and this means you can find it difficult for you to avoid some of the shops that can have some of the one of a kind type of item you are looking for.
3. Clingmans Dome
When you are in Gatlinburg one place that you need to check out is going to be Clingman’s Dome. This place is going to be one of the best places for you to go. Yes, it can get crowded and it will allow you to go up to the mountains, but it is going to be more than that. This is a place that will actually allow you to have a great view once you start to walk up to the top of the tower. It will give you some great views that you can enjoy and know that you are going to be able to see everything you are going to want to see for several miles. That alone makes this worth going up and checking out, but what else is great is the car ride up to the parking lot. I will warn you if it is chilly in the city you can expect it to be extremely cold on top as this is the highest point in Tennessee.
2. Roaring Fork Motor Nature Trail
When you are at light 8, you will see signs pointing out the Roaring Fork Motor Nature Trail. This is a great place you will want to go and see as it is going to be a one way trail that you can follow and it will drop you off on the other side of town. At the same time, though, you will find this is a great trail that is going to allow you to see some of the early settlements in the Gatlinburg area and have a chance to explore an area that in my experience is a little bit quieter than Cades Cove. The best part is the houses, like Cades Cove are open and this makes it easier for you to have a great trip and find something else that is free.
1. Cades Cove
Cades Cove is easily one of my favorite things to do when I am in the area. The problem is this is an area that gets crowded and gets crowded fast. While this is going to be something that you are going to want to avoid at times, it is free and if you are able to get to the area early enough you can avoid most of the crowds. What else is nice is going offseason you have a tendency to avoid most of the crowds as well. Then you will not be left trying to figure out what to do when you are sitting in the car waiting. What is really great is having a chance to check out some of the early settlements in Tennessee and you can even find one of the first settlement cabins in the region. The churches you can see here are also going to be great and allow you to have some of the best memories of the trip. One of the favorite things that I like to do here, though, is pull off on one of the little side shots and enjoy the view. I like to walk down into the meadows and just enjoy the mountains in all their majestic beauty.
